Anyone living, working or worshipping in listed Northern California counties may join.

“The eligibility page states: "Anyone who lives, works or worships in Sacramento, Placer, Nevada, El Dorado, Amador, Yuba, Yolo, Sutter, San Joaquin, Solano, Sierra, and Contra Costa counties is eligible for membership at First U.S.". The membership application's county list mirrors these counties.”

Businesses located within the same 12‑county service area may open business accounts.

“Anyone who lives, works, or worships in Sacramento, Placer, Nevada, El Dorado, Amador, Yuba, Yolo, Sutter, San Joaquin, Solano, Sierra, and Contra Costa counties.”

Family members of a current First U.S. member may join by providing the first and last name of the existing member.

“Immediate family or household members of current First U.S. members are also eligible for a lifetime of benefits.”

Individuals who are federal employees in California, McClatchy employees or retirees, or Safeway employees in Northern California or Northern Nevada are eligible to join First U.S.
